About Andrew:
Andy is the head of MOD’s Project Delivery Function; he leads a team who support all parts of defence to mature the Function and Profession. Prior to this Andy was the Head of Project Delivery Improvement at Dstl.
Andy started his career in software engineering where he was responsible for developing chemical and biological modelling and simulation systems, before moving into a range of varied project, programme and leadership roles. Examples include:
- Leading Dstl’s Covid19 programme providing scientific support to the government's pandemic response;
- Leading a Dstl programme to establish a new 300 strong division focused on innovative generation-after-next technology for defence and security;
- Deputy Programme Manager for a programme to move 170 scientists, engineers and facilities from the Home Office to Dstl.
- Managing vehicle explosive protection projects to support operations in Afghanistan;
- Leading a group of 100 commercial professionals procuring ~£300m of Science and Technology research each year along with all the goods and services that Dstl needed to operate.
Andy lives near Salisbury in Wiltshire with his wife, two children and Cockerpoo. When not at work Andy enjoys keeping fit, skiing, walking their Cockapoo and getting outdoors with his family.
