APM responds to Building Safety Bill

The Government has published its Building Safety Bill to deliver far-reaching changes to the way residential towers are built and managed.

Following on from changes required post-Grenfell, the Bill creates a Building Safety Regulator in England, strengthens the Fire Safety Order and aims to establish a stronger and clearer framework for national oversight of construction products.

Reacting to the Bill, APM’s head of public affairs, Andrew Baldwin, said: “These changes will have implications for all project professionals working in the construction sector. We’ll be ensuring the clear role our members play is properly understood and valued.

“Project professionals will have a vital role to play in the success of a number of the Bill’s proposed changes, including in developing competencies, mediating with stakeholders and driving culture change.

“We will monitor the progress of the Bill through Parliament and I encourage any interested members to contact me to with their thoughts.”
