The APM South Wales and West of England Branch held a virtual meeting on 5 May 2022, which was very well attended.

Under the topic of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion they discussed the issue of moving from remote working to blended meetings and encouraging project teams back to face-2-face meetings. Covering topics like how to support those who are new to the world of employment and may never have worked in an office environment so they are not overwhelmed. Also how to select the appropriate type of meeting platform to use (one tip was an article by Harvard Business Review - When Do We Actually Need to Meet in Person? (hbr.org)).

They also talked about how learning is continuous throughout your career and discussed how reverse mentoring can be beneficial to everyone involved. It gives those at the start of their career exposure and a chance to observe those in senior management, while those more experienced get the opportunity to hear new perspectives and can build on the innovation of fresh views.

One of the group then asked for help in preparation for their upcoming workshop with people who have not worked together before and were offered a range of tips -like setting expectations before the meeting, harnessing the power of group discussion to enhance team building and setting boundaries by relating prioritisation and decision-making to the Business Case.
