Are you looking for a graduate scheme that specialises in project management? You joined us for a webinar with Babcock International where you learnt about their PM graduate scheme, heard from someone who has been through the programme themselves, and discovered how to apply. Learned about the requirements and got your questions answered. This webinar was held on 23 September 2022.

In a competitive recruitment market, it pays to understand what a graduate recruiter is looking for.

This webinar, delivered by Babcock International and supported by APM, gave you invaluable insights in to the shape of Babcock’s graduate scheme as well as their requirements for applying.

The webinar also gave delegates plenty of time to get their questions answered, from a senior member of the project management function at Babcock, as well as from someone who has recently been through the graduate scheme and who shared their experiences.

This session was aimed at university students who will be graduating in 2023 although other students were welcome to attend.

Speakers:

Kathryn Jones, Director of Project Management, Babcock International

Kathryn Jones CEng, ChPP FAPM is a Senior Project Leader and Chartered Project Professional with 20 years’ experience of delivery in customer-focused environments including Major Infrastructure EPC projects and programmes across Nuclear and Process industries, as well as functional roles leading transformation programmes to set up PMOs focused on establishing the project delivery ways of working, Governance & Assurance and PM Capability Development.  Her current role in Babcock Group Project Management Function as the Group Project Director for Capability and functional lead for Project Management sees her delivering a range of projects to grow the project professional capability in Babcock, including the launch of a new Group-wide Project Management graduate scheme. 

Gemma Sharman, Project Planning Manager, Babcock International

Gemma is a Genetics graduate and applied for the Babcock scheme to meet her interest in working in a STEM-focused company. Since joining, Gemma has worked in a wide variety of areas and now holds APM’s Project Fundamentals Qualification and Project Management Qualification. She is now a Planning Manager, responsible for the day-to-day running of a key project. Gemma is also a mentor to young professionals and hopes to achieve both the APM Project Professional Qualification and Chartered Project Professional standard.



Caspar Bartington, Head of Volunteer and Education Engagement, Association for Project Management

Caspar has worked at APM since 2018, firstly leading on APM’s engagement with the education sector and then with APM’s volunteer community. He has more than 20 years’ experience of working in education and has worked with clients in Europe, Africa and Asia.
